A tree made of puzzle pieces,
but the pieces don't fit,
They're mashed in together,
Hammered out until they gave in
What a tactful mess this is...
A tree with roots in the desert,
Streams of water flowing underneath,
Hidden life support, energy
Oh the promise of life,
Of existence beyond this
I cling to it, my dear hope,
Drinking up your endlessness
The missing pieces in this puzzle
Represent my painful struggle
Battles lost, lessons won
The uncountable miracles You've done
The tree is a fantastic representation of many things. On a spiritual level, the tree transcends three planes. It is underground (Hell). The trunk lies on surface level (Earth), and the branches reach up towards the heavens. This is also the dichotomy of human nature. We ourselves exist on a visible plain, while our roots (human nature) cling to our baseness, while our branches reach towards greater aspirations (God/the sun as a source of life).
ReplyDeleteOn a chronological representation (like a family tree, or our personal life), our roots, or beginnings, may be dark, yet our foundation for who we currently are (the trunk). Simultaneously our branches reach towards brighter horizons.
The tree is full of beautiful metaphors. The puzzle aspect add a whole new depth to the meaning of this already very deep symbol.
For more smart stuff, look up Yggdrasil from Norse mythology.
It is beautiful and painful all at once! I love it a lot. (((hugs)))
